Darkness to Light

I saw a quote on a wall this last week that I really liked. It said, "When you come to the end of everything you know and the next step is into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe one of two things...either you will step out onto firm ground or you will be taught to fly."

Then this last weekend I was listening to Harry Potter 6 in the car on my way to Idaho and this quote came up: "Why he knew that going to Hagrid's was the right thing to do, he had no idea. It was as though the potion was illuminating a few steps of the path at a time. He could not see the final destination, he could not see where Slughorn came in, but he knew that he was going the right way to get that memory."

It's interesting to think about how many times we look to the future and see nothing, but as we continue to move forward into the darkness, things start to make sense and we see a little more. It's interesting that even from a Harry Potter book, I can learn (or re-learn) such a great lesson.

Shawn

Yesterday was a very hard day...and it was a very good day. My cousin Shawn got married. We're very close, and he's one of my best friends. When we were little, we wrote letters to each other, and we've always had a great relationship. Yesterday was hard because our relationship is changed...for good. It was good because 1-I love Jessy, his new wife, and 2-I got to go to the sealing. I thought it was pretty appropriate that of anyone, his was the first one I got to attend, and I'm so grateful I could.

Ready...

I'm oh, so ready for a change. Fortunately, I'm going to get that change in about two weeks. That's all...just two more weeks. I can be patient for just a little bit longer.

Tangled!!!

On Christmas Day, I went to see Tangled. That day, I decided that I was going to buy it as soon as it came out...and I did. That day was today! Tonight, I was going to let nothing interfere with my plans to watch this movie. And nothing did. :) What a great movie. Here we have a really cute princess who takes control of her own life, and is very independent. We also have a very attractive hero...in my opinion, the most attractive of all Disney movies. I mean, where do you go wrong with that? Amazing movie!
So, now, I may have a new movie obsession, but oh well. At least it's a good one. :)

March Madness

Dear Bracket of Mine,

Thank you for the good times, and for letting me be ahead of the all the guys at the end of the first weekend. However, today you let me down. If Kansas does happen to win, we might be able to salvage some of this relationship, but as for right now, I think we're getting close to the end.

Sincerely,
Krystal

P.S. Please pass the message on to the tournament that it did well to live up to the name of March Madness.

Rexburg Temple

The Rexburg Temple has held a special place in my heart for about seven years. It was announced just before I knew I was for sure going to attend BYU-Idaho. Ground was broken right after my first year.
I watched as it progressively came to look more and more like a temple.
I remember the day Moroni was put on the top of the spire (I could see it out my bedroom window).
Random note...after Moroni was placed on the Temple, they started lighting up the spire at night...and only the spire. It was what I referred to as a "floating steeple."

I watched as it was completed. I was able to participate in the open house by ushering one evening, and I attended the open house a couple of times to tour the temple.
I was present at the dedication. And my last semester in Rexburg, I went at least once a week, usually twice a week, to do baptisms for the dead.

The Rexburg Temple holds a special place in my heart. This last weekend, that place in my heart grew. I was able to go to the Temple and receive my endowment in the Rexburg Temple. Even though it wasn't what I have always planned on, it was a blessing that it worked out like it did. I love this Temple so much, and it will always be one of "my temples."
