Lord of the Rings
Last night, I watched the last Lord of the Rings movie. It completed my full introduction to the movies...it was the first time I've actually watched them all the way through. After watching the first movie, I said I wouldn't make an opinion of Lord of the Rings until I watched them all. Now that they are done, I will give my opinion and share a few lessons I learned in the process of watching the movies...First: Don't start your Lord of the Rings experience with the extended version. It's way too long! For someone who already loves it, I'm sure it's great. But as a first timer, it's too much. If I had made my decision about these movies after the first one, it probably wouldn't have been positive.
Second: Don't watch them when you're really tired. It is so hard to stay awake and to get all the necessary details when you are running on not enough sleep. Interestingly enough, I was exhausted for all three movies. :)
Third: They really are great movies. The more I watched them, the more I wanted to see. They have the ability to grasp your attention and take you in. Any movie that can do that is a good movie in my mind.
Give me a couple months or so and I think I will want to watch them again...but only when I'm not already falling asleep. Give me more time and I may be interested in watching the extended versions.

Music
I love music. I love finding new songs. I love playing the piano. I love singing. I just love music.Music has a way of speaking to me. Certain songs capture my attention and help me describe how I'm feeling. This has happened many many times, and these songs become very important to me. For example:
...All songs that, at some point or another, have been on repeat on my iTunes

Blizzard
Mrs. Bear (Fozzie's mom) to Kermit: I tell you, Mr. Lizard, it's a good thing all your friends are safe and warm inside the farmhouse.
Kermit: Yeah, but, all my friends are not safe and warm.
I just like to know that all my friends are safe and warm. Hopefully everyone can travel to their various destinations safely. It will give me great peace of mind when I know everyone will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving!

Inspiration
I tried to just embed the video, but it won't work as of now. But go watch it.
They started planning this before I got my new job. I'm glad I didn't have to deal with the stress of the event, but I'm very sad I missed it. I love these people so much!!!

Somebody
"Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop
that you walk right by every day..."
The line I've really been thinking about is "somebody in the next car..." Now the story:
Almost a year ago, I was in a car accident with my roommate. The description was that car #1 hit car #2 and launched it into car #3 (yes, the police report said "launched"). We were car #3. As we were waiting for everything to be taken care of with the report and with "car #1," we started talking to the guys that were in the middle car. After that, we went to In-N-Out together and it started a great friendship. There were times we were nearly inseparable...together all the time, sometimes doing crazy things. It was so much fun!

Favorite People
There is a hammock on the patio of my apartment complex...it broke a couple weeks ago, and I've missed it. I always sat on the hammock, and everyone knew it. Thursday, it got fixed. The person that fixed it became one of my favorite people.
That same night, I got a last minute invite to the Brad Paisley concert. So, last night, I went to the concert. The person that invited me became one of my favorite people.
I spent time talking to one of my cousins. He tends to talk a lot, but still...I loved talking to him for so long. He is definitely one of my favorite people (as are many of my cousins).
Then, there's a friend of mine that is so patient with me and comforts me when I'm struggling. He doesn't judge when I have a problem and just lets me talk through things. Sometimes he gives me advice, sometimes he just listens and my own talking helps me figure it out. He is one of my favorite people.
And, of course, there's the girl who lives almost the same life as me. We work at the same place...almost. We are in the same dinner group. We live in the same ward, so we have the same ward activities. And when we're not doing any of that, we're together a lot. We even like the same type of guys. The biggest difference is that she is right-brained and thinks artistically and creatively, whereas I am left-brained and think mathematically and logically. (We even had the same conversations with co-workers on the same day about this.) Without a doubt, she is one of my favorite people.
I am blessed with many amazing people in my life. I can't name them all, but I'm grateful for everyone of them.

Amazing Day
4- Miniature party at work.
5- Finishing the Book of Mormon. (2 months ago, I decided to make a goal to read the Book of Mormon by my birthday. Even though I didn't always stay on the schedule I planned, I was able to finish it. It felt amazing!)
6- Getting kidnapped for dinner with my awesome friends. (I was told that I was going to have dinner with a friend that hasn't been in Provo for a while, and was extremely excited. I went down the stairs to head over to his apartment and got ambushed. I ended up with a pillowcase over my head and my hands in handcuffs...which, p.s. left marks on my wrists that were there all night. They took me to a park where we had pizza and just hung out for a little bit. So much fun!)
(Pictures to come)
7- Wonderful party with lots of great people. (I'll be honest and say that I didn't know how many people would actually come, but I was truly surprised. Lots of friends, cake and ice cream, fun decorations, and a small bit of live entertainment! Seriously, a perfect party!)

Let it Go
The words that made the biggest impression on me are the chorus:
I can't really explain the effect those words had on me. But this afternoon, I spent half an hour standing out in the rain and thinking. It felt amazing. I have been struggling with something the last few weeks, and today I took a major step toward healing. I let the rain wash away some of my fears. It's not all better, but it will be. With time, I will be fine and will be able to completely Let it Go.

Happy August!!!
Sunday: Church was amazing today...followed by a good Sunday evening with friends.Monday: I'm going to take a test as part of an interview process...which will hopefully be followed by a job offer at Alpine Credit Union (cross your fingers!!)
Tuesday: Ward Temple Trip.
Wednesday: Ward Party at Payson Water Park.
Thursday: Nothing really planned, but I'm sure I'll come up with something.
Friday: MY BIRTHDAY!!! And I am actually going to have a birthday party. I haven't really had a good birthday party with friends since I was 12...so now that I'm going to be 24, I guess it's time again.
Saturday: Probably do something with friends...that tends to be what happens. :)
Sunday: Birthday party with the family!
Yep, it's going to be a good week. Somewhere in all that I've got planned, I need to take time to clean my room. It's been a crazy mess, but I really want it all taken care of and possibly reorganized by Friday. I don't want a messy room on my birthday. But as for now, it's time for bed. And it's the earliest I will have gone to bed in a while, so it will be really nice.

Communication
As much as I fear communication and tend to avoid it, it really is a great thing...probably something that should happen more often, because when we avoid talking things out, it never ends up good. Thank you, certain person, for being awesome and talking to me tonight. It made things so much better. Tonight, as I go to bed, I am happier than I have been in over a week, and it feels awesome!

Stars and Thunderstorms
It's only about 20,000 light years away. The other picture that absolutely amazed me was this one of the Sombrero Galaxy...
It's somewhere around 30 million light years away and about 50,000 light years across. I can't even begin to fathom how big the universe really is and everything that is out there. It is incredible. After the amazingness of the pictures, I was able to spend Monday and Tuesday nights camping away from city lights. Once again, there were so many stars and they were so bright. I loved it!
Back in Provo, the stars aren't nearly as exciting. It's pretty disappointing. But, to make up for it, we had an awesome thunderstorm a few hours ago.
A group of us went up to Y mountain and just watched the lightening and some of us stood out in the rain. There are just times that I am so grateful for nature and the blessing we have to really enjoy it. Plus, I won't lie...the company has been pretty great too. :)

Popsicles
When I got home, what did I get for a snack? A popsicle. Then I went to run some errands and go pick up my niece...so what did I take with me to eat? Another popsicle. I bought more popsicles (fruit bars) while I was out, and when I came home, I remembered I had a different kind (twin pops) still in the freezer, so I decided I should eat one...number 4 popsicle. Then, when it was time to take my niece home, I decided I needed something to tide me over until dinner...so I got, yet again, another popsicle. Yes, that makes 5 popsicles in one day.
To top it off...the treats at the ward movie night tonight were ice cream sundaes. Popsicles and ice cream...What a day!

But now, the day must come to an end, and it's back to reality...YUCK!

Random thoughts...
Tonight is full of random thoughts...
- Why is it May 23rd and only 43 degrees outside? I'm loving the rain and could do with some good thunder and lightening, but I could also do with at least 20 degrees warmer!
- I don't really want to go to bed because it means I have to get up and go to work tomorrow...and I'm not really loving the idea of work right now.
- Sometimes the whole dating idea can be so random and awkward and retarded that all you can do is laugh about it...especially when the only other option is to cry. Today was a laughing day, but now it's all laughed out.
- I love game nights and movie nights and pretty much any night when it's spent with people in my ward.
- I currently have two favorite songs...Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet" and a Michael McLean song "Close Your Eyes." They are both full of words I live by right now.
- Occasionally we do things that hurt others and most of the time it's unintentional. I have been on the giving and receiving end of this. I feel horrible when I do it to others, and it's miserable when it happens to me. And sometimes it's hard to fix.
- I need to buy more sports movies.
- I still really want to go on a vacation, and soon...I just don't know when I really can go or how I can manage to pay for it.
- My Ricks College family is amazing! I'm blessed to have a 3rd extended family.
- I don't really have a 10th thing, I just figured that 10 is a nice round number and I love nice round numbers. :)

What do I wish for? My wish is pretty much always the same...or at least always similar. I do look for opportunities to make wishes. Making wishes always make me happy. :)

Trust
I have so much to learn from my little niece. I can learn to be more confident and trust myself more. I can also learn to have more trust in those supports I have around me. Children are amazing, and there is so much I learn from a young child. That's why I love them so much.

Patience
~All good things come to he who waits.
~The secret of patience is doing something else in the meanwhile.
~Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.
~Patience is not passive; on the contrary, it is active; it is concentrated strength.
So, yeah. Those helped. But of course, in the process, I enjoyed coming across some that discuss patience with somewhat of a sarcastic tone...
~How can a society that exists on instant mashed potatoes, packaged cake mixes, frozen dinners, and instant cameras teach patience to its young?
~Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.
~Patience: A minor form of despair disguised as a virtue.
The second set of quotes describes more of how I'm feeling. Whoever said patience is a virtue was not waiting for something!

Favorite Things
My new favorite thing is the idea of a little potted garden on the patio of my apartment. I have time and a random interest in it, so I want to make myself a garden.
I find great interest in certain TV shows. I watched the entire series of Gilmore Girls in a matter of weeks a few years ago. I have certain shows that I definitely watch every episode of...once I get really into it. The TV show of great interest right now is Dancing With the Stars.
Mostly because of this couple...Evan and Anna. The others will be fun too and I'll get other favorites, but these two will mostly likely remain my favorite.
And I most definitely have my favorite movies. I have a lot of favorites, but if someone were to ask me to pick one movie to be my absolute favorite...if I could only own one movie (or series)...if I had to narrow it down to one...it would be Anne of Green Gables. I love all three movies. I enjoy the story of the third movie (even though it doesn't follow the books)...most of my favorite scenes come out of the second movie...but my favorite movie as a whole is the first.
I love the series because I love watching the relationship between Anne and Gilbert evolve...they make love look so easy!

These movies are amazing, and J.K. Rowling is brilliant. Plus, these kids have been fun to watch grow up. They were so cute in the first movie. :)
