Favorite Things

I have favorite things and things I get really interested in. When I find something new, I like to learn all I can about the new interest and maybe it appears as an obsession, but I don't really care. I like my favorite things. I have done it with crocheting, cross-stitching, sewing, and other projects. I have definitely found a favorite thing in traveling, even though I haven't been able to do much.

My new favorite thing is the idea of a little potted garden on the patio of my apartment. I have time and a random interest in it, so I want to make myself a garden.
I find great interest in certain TV shows. I watched the entire series of Gilmore Girls in a matter of weeks a few years ago. I have certain shows that I definitely watch every episode of...once I get really into it. The TV show of great interest right now is Dancing With the Stars.

Mostly because of this couple...Evan and Anna. The others will be fun too and I'll get other favorites, but these two will mostly likely remain my favorite.

And I most definitely have my favorite movies. I have a lot of favorites, but if someone were to ask me to pick one movie to be my absolute favorite...if I could only own one movie (or series)...if I had to narrow it down to one...it would be Anne of Green Gables. I love all three movies. I enjoy the story of the third movie (even though it doesn't follow the books)...most of my favorite scenes come out of the second movie...but my favorite movie as a whole is the first.

I love the series because I love watching the relationship between Anne and Gilbert evolve...they make love look so easy!

However, even with my all-time favorite being Anne of Green Gables, there are times when other movies take precedence. One series that can easily do this is Harry Potter!!!
These movies are amazing, and J.K. Rowling is brilliant. Plus, these kids have been fun to watch grow up. They were so cute in the first movie. :)

The seventh movie comes out on November 19, 2010...that is 7 months and 27 days (yes, I do have a countdown). I'm so excited!

I can't help but be excited about my favorite things!!!

St. Patrick's Day!

I don't like dressing up on Halloween, but give me a day to wear a specific color, and I'm all for it. It probably started when my mom would make green food on St. Patrick's Day when I was growing up. We would have green pancakes, green spaghetti, green bread...she went all out, and I loved it. Whether it was that or not, I don't know, but I love finding cute outfits with green for St. Patrick's Day.

Today, I completely disappointed myself when I got to work and had forgotten the day. I was lucky enough to wear a little bit of green, but definitely not what I like. So, what did I do when I got home? I fixed my problem, and put on what would have been my green outfit. It's so much better. :)

At work, we have been learning about St. Patrick's Day and where it came from. Apparently St. Patrick was some Catholic Bishop who was a missionary to Ireland. While in Ireland, it is said that he banished snakes from the island. Of course, that probably means that there were never any snakes there, but still...that is one more reason for me to love St. Patrick and want to celebrate this wonderful green day. Plus, it give me a great new love for Ireland. I should go there someday.

Blast from the Past

Today I ran into one of my favorite teenagers in the world. This summer, I was asked to be a "big sister" on our stake Pioneer Trek. Each family had a Ma and Pa, and a third adult leader just to help. I got to be that third leader. It was so much fun and I had an amazing family. Nate was one of the brothers in my family, and the one I really got close to. Today I ran into him while I was at my parents' ward and it pretty much made my day. Just like he did on Trek, today he lit up my day

Then, if running into Nate wasn't enough, I had a great blast from the past. I attended my cousin's baby's blessing, and the bishop of her ward was one of my two favorite Seminary teachers (and I had seven). By far, he was the teacher of my favorite class. Let me explain...

My high school had the biggest seminary in the church. Seminary was taught by at least seven or eight teachers all eight periods, so the odds of being in a class with a close friend are next to nothing. This class defied the odds, and many people had close friends in the class. My best friend was in this class with me. On the first day when Brother Anderson walked in and we were all talking, he knew this class would be a great one, and it was.

Teachers would walk into our classroom, and even if they didn’t mention it to us then, Brother Anderson would hear how different our class felt. There was just something amazing about our class. We would win the competitions among all the classes, and that definitely helped our unity. Slowly, we came up with a name for our class... "Brother Anderson's 2nd Period Celestial AP Seminary Class of Love." Each part has an inside joke to go with it.

Even after we weren’t in the same class, we still did things together, the most eventful thing being our “reunion” a year later. We got as many as we could back together, including Brother Anderson, and went down to Temple Square to see The Testaments. It was so fun to see everyone again. We definitely weren’t the normal class, and I don’t even hesitate to say that we were amazing...no one does. :) Seeing Brother Anderson again today was awesome. It was seven years ago that I was in this class, and he still knew exactly who I was. It's definitely amazing to run into someone who had such a big influence on my life.

Olympic Wrap Up and Real World

Well, the end came. The Olympics are over. I have been keeping track of the top four countries in the medal counts, and the final counts are as follows... So, we didn't get the most Gold Medals, but at least we got the most Medals! And we set a new record for the most medals in a Winter Olympics.

Thank you Gold Medalists for being so much fun to watch...And Silver and Bronze Medalists too...but there's too many to put pictures up.

Now it's back to the real world, and by that, I mean watching The Bachelor tonight...and yes, I get really into it.

Plus, I found out that in three weeks, my cute Olympic Crush will be on Dancing With the Stars!!!So, really, I guess the real world will have to wait, and for now, I will fantasize about this boy.
