Blizzard

Driving in the snow freaks me out. It really does scare me. It gets worse when I have so many people that I really care about driving home for Thanksgiving. I've thought about the movie "Muppet's Family Christmas" --not Muppet Christmas Carol-- and there's a blizzard. Miss Piggy is out in the storm and Kermit is very nervous about it. His thoughts are all about her and wanting her to arrive safely. One cute little conversation in the movie goes like this...

Mrs. Bear (Fozzie's mom) to Kermit: I tell you, Mr. Lizard, it's a good thing all your friends are safe and warm inside the farmhouse.
Kermit: Yeah, but, all my friends are not safe and warm.

I just like to know that all my friends are safe and warm. Hopefully everyone can travel to their various destinations safely. It will give me great peace of mind when I know everyone will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving!

Inspiration

I tried to just embed the video, but it won't work as of now. But go watch it.

They started planning this before I got my new job. I'm glad I didn't have to deal with the stress of the event, but I'm very sad I missed it. I love these people so much!!!

Somebody

I love the song by Reba McEntire: "Somebody." The idea of the song is that we never know when or where we are going to meet people. It refers to the fact that there is somebody out there for everyone, but I have been thinking about it in a different...non-romantic way lately. The chorus says:

"Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop
that you walk right by every day..."

The line I've really been thinking about is "somebody in the next car..." Now the story:

Almost a year ago, I was in a car accident with my roommate. The description was that car #1 hit car #2 and launched it into car #3 (yes, the police report said "launched"). We were car #3. As we were waiting for everything to be taken care of with the report and with "car #1," we started talking to the guys that were in the middle car. After that, we went to In-N-Out together and it started a great friendship. There were times we were nearly inseparable...together all the time, sometimes doing crazy things. It was so much fun!

These three people have all proven to be blessings in my life. There are definitely days I miss the good times we had. It amazes me how randomly we meet people sometimes. Really, you can meet people anywhere...even at 1655 S State St...and it's awesome!

Miracles

Yesterday, I came across an amazing deal for a flight through Southwest...
With this deal, I found tickets to Dallas...where I have been wanting to go for about a year...for $60 one way (of course...plus taxes, but still way better than the usual $152 one way price). Anyways, I quickly got working on planning...called my friends in Dallas, talked to work the next day, and was determined to go. I came home from work Thursday to buy my ticket, only to find that the day I was planning to return to Provo, the tickets had gone back to the usual $152. I had a minor breakdown and pretty much resigned myself to waiting...yet again...to go to Texas. Very disappointing!!! I left for a few hours to forget about it and when I got back home, I tried to figure out anything I could to figure out the trip. As a last resort, I checked again and one flight had gone back down to $60. I was so excited and within about five minutes, I had purchased my ticket. So, I get to go to Texas in January! I'm so excited!!! It was a miracle to me, and I'm so glad it all worked out!

Bonfire

Last weekend, I decided that October is the perfect time for a good bonfire and that I really wanted to go and have a bonfire somewhere up a canyon. I mentioned it to the right people and last night we made it happen. A big group of us went up Provo Canyon by Squaw Peak and I got my bonfire. The people were awesome, being outside was awesome, and the fire was awesome. There is just something about being out in nature that is so relaxing. It was dark the whole time, so I couldn't see all the fall colors, but I could definitely feel fall around me. I was so excited...like a little girl. It was a great night!

Football

Today, I went to the BYU football game. It made me happy. Granted, it would have been fun to have a few more points, but I'll take the win...it's better than the last month of games. There were a few things that I really enjoyed about this game...

1- Our seats were really good. We were in the south end zone, just behind the goal posts, on the 18th row.

2- It was actually fun to watch the cheerleaders. Having male cheerleaders makes the stunts they do so cool.

3- The team wore pink wrist bands, socks, and shoelaces. It's breast cancer awareness month, and they represented...SO COOL!

Anyways, it just was lots of fun! One reason I love fall is because of Football. It is one of the best things in the world! And after a game like this one, I remember why I love footbal so much. :)

Bedtime

It's 9:40 pm. I feel like it's well past midnight, and I'm exhausted. All I want is a big glass of water, my pajamas, and to curl up and fall asleep watching a movie. That is what sounds wonderful to me right now. So, that's what I'm going to do! Good night!!!
